Polygon Open Money Stack Adds TRON, A USDT Pool 119x Its Own

Polygon Open Money Stack now supports TRON, a chain whose USDT pool is about 119 times larger than Polygon's own. See the contract reads and DefiLlama data.

Polygon Open Money Stack now works with TRON, according to a Polygon post dated October 8, 2026. The chain at the other end of the deal holds more than 100 times the USDT that Polygon does. Contract reads and DefiLlama data show how lopsided the two sides are.

Polygon's announcement, dated October 8, 2026.

What Polygon Open Money Stack does on TRON

In plain terms, a business on TRON can now take a bank payment and hold the USDT in a wallet. It can then pay out to a recipient's bank. All of it can run through one vendor's flow, and Polygon calls that six live features. The same stack also moves USDT between TRON, Polygon and other major chains.

The pitch is fewer vendors per payment, which matters for small remittance and gig teams.

A remittance app or gig platform can give each customer one persistent TRON deposit address. The post names the Philippines, Mexico, Argentina and Nigeria as target markets. Polygon Trails handles the cross-chain leg. Polygon extended that routing tool to Solana and EVM chains in an earlier post. A user paid in TRON-side USDT can settle in USDC on an Ethereum chain in one transaction.

How big the TRON side is

Polygon post section saying TRON carries more than 94 billion dollars of circulating USDT

The same post, explaining why Polygon added TRON.

Polygon says TRON carries more than $94 billion of circulating USDT, over half of the total. A read of the TRC-20 contract through TronGrid returns $94.25 billion of total supply. DefiLlama's circulating figure is a bit lower at $92.6 billion, which is 50.3% of all USDT. So the "over half" claim holds, but only just.

A matching read on Polygon returns about $792 million. That makes the TRON pool roughly 119 times the USDT already on Polygon. Polygon's whole stablecoin base on DefiLlama is $3.43 billion, including $1.63 billion of USDC.

Polygon's own base has been shrinking

Polygon is attaching itself to a bigger pool because its own is moving the wrong way. DefiLlama has Polygon's stablecoin supply 13% lower than 90 days ago, when it stood near $3.96 billion. It is still up about 43% on a year earlier. USDC on Polygon fell 9.8% in the past month.

TRON's side is steady.

Routes from TRON into Polygon would add to a base that has been slipping, which is the commercial logic here. Polygon also lists routing to other major chains, so TRON-side users are not tied to Polygon as the endpoint. USDT there grew about 0.3% in the past week and 0.4% in the past month.

Other chains are moving faster. USDT on Solana grew 6.9% in the past week and sits near $2.9 billion, so a route that touches Solana carries its own appeal. Almost no USDC lives on TRON, around $30 million, so a USDT-to-USDC route is the natural conversion Polygon's stack can offer.

This announcement is about plumbing around the balances and says nothing of the balances themselves. Businesses already on TRON keep the chain their customers use. A Polygon Open Money Stack integration lets them rent the fiat, wallet and routing pieces instead of building them.

Supply numbers come from contract reads and DefiLlama on October 8. This is a look at a product announcement and makes no call on any token.
