Blur has set a date for the end of its website. In a three-post thread on October 12, the NFT marketplace said the blur.io frontend will be deprecated on November 12, 2026. The Blur frontend shutdown covers only the web interface. The marketplace protocol stays live on-chain, and the BLUR token keeps control of the protocol's fee switch.

What happens to Blend loans and the marketplace

The second post deals with Blend, Blur's peer-to-peer lending product. Blend stops matching new loans on the same day, November 12. Borrowers have until then to repay or let their loans default. After that date Blur says it will provide a frontend tool so users can withdraw their assets from Blend. The post does not say how long that tool will stay available, so users with assets there should not wait for the last moment.

The third and last post warns readers about impersonators and fraudulent announcements. It names @blur_io as the only official Blur account. That matters here because a shutdown notice is exactly the kind of message scammers copy.

Blur gave no reason in the thread, and this article does not supply one. What the thread does include is a clear sequence for anyone with open positions ahead of the Blur frontend shutdown. Repay before November 12, wait for the withdrawal tool, and check that any link comes from the official account.

How BLUR traded around the post

Binance's BLUR/USDT market shows the reaction clearly. BLUR finished October 11 at about 1.9 US cents, and then the thread appeared close to 20:00 UTC on October 12. Within that one hourly candle the token fell from 1.80 cents to a low of 1.41 cents. That hour alone traded about $2.4 million, while most hours the week before printed next to nothing.

By the end of the day the price had settled near 1.38 cents on roughly $4.7 million of volume. A normal day in the previous week brought in a few hundred thousand dollars at most. The slide carried into October 13, with a low of 1.26 cents early on and a small bounce afterwards. At the time of writing BLUR sits about 30% under where it ended October 11.

Looking back 45 days, the strongest daily close was on October 4 and the drop wiped out all of that range in one session. How people use the contracts directly after the Blur frontend shutdown is something only later onchain activity can answer.

What the lending numbers look like

DefiLlama tracks two Blur products. Its Blur Lending page lists about $5.7 million in value locked on Ethereum, compared with about $8.3 million on October 7. Its Blur Bids page lists about $17.0 million. Both look small beside the peaks DefiLlama has on record. Lending was above $100 million in March 2024, and bids were above $140 million back in March 2023. The figures show how much value is still exposed to the November date. The BLUR price move is not a recommendation to buy or sell.
