CHAD Dividend Rises To 14%, But The Daily Payout Jumps 19%

The CHAD dividend rises from 13% to 14% on November 1, yet the daily payout per share jumps 19%. The 8-K arithmetic, implied share count and the SOL treasury.

A bigger dividend rate does not always mean a bigger payment on the same scale. DeFi Development Corp. said on October 15, 2026 that it will lift the CHAD dividend from 13% to 14% a year. The daily payout per share, meanwhile, jumps 19%.

What the CHAD dividend change says

CHAD is the ticker for the company's Variable Rate Series C Perpetual Preferred Stock, listed on Nasdaq. The press release raises the rate by 100 basis points. At the $10 stated amount, that moves annual dividends from $1.30 per share to $1.40, a rise of about 7.7%.

The release says the increase takes effect on November 2, 2026. The accompanying 8-K says the new rate applies to periods starting on or after November 1. Dividends are cumulative and paid each business day when declared by the board.

Chief executive Joseph Onorati described the pitch as "double-digit dividend income, paid every business day." The company says proceeds from future issuance would go toward more SOL.

Why the CHAD dividend per day jumps 19%

The 8-K has a table that shows the effect. For November, the board declared $0.00614 per share for each of 19 business days. The company's September 16 filing set October at $0.00516 per share for 21 business days.

Divide the new figure by the old and the daily payment is up about 19%. The rate rose less than 8%, yet the payment per day moved much more. The reason is simple arithmetic. Each month's payout is one twelfth of the annual amount, and November has two fewer business days than October.

The monthly CHAD dividend does match the rate change. October works out to about $0.1084 and November to about $0.1167, which is again a rise near 7.7%. Anyone comparing a single day's payment across months would see a bigger jump than the actual raise.

What the filing implies about CHAD's size

The 8-K puts the aggregate dividend for the full November period at $184,469. Dividing that by the $0.1167 per share gives roughly 1.58 million CHAD shares, or about $15.8 million at the $10 stated amount. That is our arithmetic and not a figure the company states.

At that size, the extra cost of the higher rate is small. The 14% rate on 1.58 million shares comes to about $2.2 million a year if the share count holds. The company would pay more if it sells more CHAD.

The SOL treasury behind the dividend

The company's weekly update says it held 2,586,282 SOL and equivalents on October 9, up 22,070 in a week. At Binance's SOL price near $101.81 on October 15, that is about $263 million. The press release says that treasury earns returns through staking and validator operations.

The board declares the CHAD dividend "when, as and if" it chooses, so it is a board decision and not an automatic pass-through of staking returns. This article reports company filings and arithmetic, and it is not a view on whether CHAD is a good holding.
