Ethereum Staking Queue Holds 1.36M ETH, A 24-Day Wait To Join

The Ethereum staking queue holds 1,359,484 ETH and a 23-day entry wait, while exits take under four days. A beacon node check shows 1.37M ETH pending.

Anyone who wants to start staking ETH today will wait close to a month. A public queue tracker shows 1,359,484 ETH waiting to enter, and the estimated wait is 23 days and 14 hours. Leaving takes about 3 and a half days. The Ethereum staking queue is lopsided, with far more coins trying to get in than out. Two sources, a public tracker and a beacon node, agree on the picture.

Three queues, one rate limit

The tracker is ValidatorQueue, which takes its data from pectrified.com. It lists three separate queues. The entry queue moves 256 ETH per epoch, and so does the exit queue. A consolidation queue, for requests that merge validators into bigger ones, moves 348 per epoch.

The exit queue holds 144,492 ETH with a wait of 3 days and 14 hours. Withdrawal is not instant even after that, because a sweep delay of 7.1 days applies before funds reach the withdrawal address. Divide the entry figure by the exit figure and roughly 9.4 times more ETH is waiting to join than to leave.

Checking the Ethereum staking queue against a beacon node

The page said it was last updated 302 minutes before we captured it, so we asked a public beacon node directly. At slot 15,478,648, stamped 07:29 UTC on October 21, it listed 16,940 pending deposits. They add up to 1,373,749 ETH, a little above the tracker's older figure.

That total lines up with the wait time. The Ethereum staking queue clears a fixed amount each epoch. At 256 ETH per epoch and 225 epochs a day, the queue clears 57,600 ETH daily. Our arithmetic puts the wait for the last deposit at about 23.9 days, close to the tracker's 23 days and 14 hours.

The same node showed 7,129 pending consolidation requests. Each one asks to fold a validator's balance into another, which is how a staker ends up running fewer, larger validators.

Age shows up in the list as well. The oldest deposit still waiting carries slot 15,265,307, which is September 21 at 16:21 UTC, so it has queued for roughly a month. Most entries are plain 32 ETH deposits, 14,676 of the 16,940, while 412 are 1,000 ETH or more. None of this needed special access, since anyone can send the same request to a public beacon node.

Where the staked ETH sits

The network card shows 818,218 active validators and 44.1 million ETH staked, or 36.07% of supply. Divide one by the other and the average validator holds about 53.9 ETH. That is well above the 32 ETH a validator needed when staking began.

We left out the tracker's APR box. It showed 0.38%, and we could not confirm that number against a second source.

Timing matters for anyone in line. A deposit made today would start earning around mid-November, going by the 23.9 days we calculated. Leaving is quicker, though the 7.1-day sweep delay still applies after the exit queue. Ethereum staking queue figures change every epoch, so check the tracker before relying on them.
