Filecoin vesting is almost over, and the schedule says the end comes this week. Tokenomist shows a final tranche of 958.8 thousand FIL, worth about $1.1 million, scheduled to unlock between October 11 and October 15 from Protocol Labs, the Filecoin Foundation and team and contributor streams. After that, the six-year linear schedules that began with the network's 2020 launch have nothing left to release.
The Defiant put a size on the change. At the latest mining pace, it says, annual additions from vesting and block rewards would drop from about 89 million FIL to 21 million.
What Tokenomist says is left in Filecoin vesting
The page is stamped as updated on October 6, 2026, so the October 11 to 15 dates reflect the schedule as of that update. The Defiant's headline puts the annual reduction at 68 million FIL, the gap between its 89 million and 21 million figures.
The site counts 50.03% of the 2 billion FIL maximum supply as released, which is 1.00 billion tokens. Founder and team allocations are 99.83% released, and private investors are fully released. A further 15% of supply, the 300 million FIL mining reserve, has no release schedule yet.
Over the past 30 days, linear releases totaled 11.0 million FIL, worth $10.3 million. Baseline minting supplied 3.2 million of that and Protocol Labs supplied 2.9 million. For the 30 days from October 11, Tokenomist lists 3.2 million FIL from baseline minting, 1.0 million from simple minting, and the 958.8 thousand final vesting tranche.

The allocation behind Filecoin vesting
Most of Filecoin's supply sits in pools that pay out as block rewards. Baseline minting is the biggest, at 38.5% of supply, and simple minting comes next. Both keep paying storage providers after the team and investor streams close.
The mining reserve is a separate 15% slice that has no schedule yet. Protocol Labs has 210 million FIL set aside and the Filecoin Foundation has 100 million. A 36-month fundraising bucket holds 116 million more. Those are the streams that are now ending.
Minting is what continues, and The Defiant stresses that storage-provider rewards carry on. What stops is the scheduled flow to Protocol Labs, the Foundation and the team. That is why the Filecoin vesting calendar matters more to supply watchers than the dollar value of the last tranche.
Price and scale
FIL trades near $1.11 on the page. Tokenomist reports a market cap of $914 million and also publishes an adjusted number that comes out higher. Set the final tranche against last month's 11.0 million FIL of vesting and it looks tiny. It works out to about a tenth of one percent of the circulating amount the site uses.
Vesting calendars matter because they tell holders how much new supply can arrive, though they are one input among many. The Filecoin vesting figures here come from a data site and not from the Filecoin Foundation, so check Tokenomist before you quote them. Nothing here predicts how FIL will trade after the Filecoin vesting schedule closes.
