Stacks Bitcoin Staking Hits 1,740 BTC As Bond 3 Sells Out
Stacks Bitcoin staking has locked 1,740 BTC across three sold-out bonds, with Bullish and 21shares in Bond 3 and BitGo custody now an entry route for firms.

Stacks Bitcoin staking has now locked 1,740 BTC across its bonds, and all three bonds so far have sold out. The counter sits on the project's own bond reports page, which also lists the next bond as opening around December 4.

Stacks Bitcoin staking: who joined Bond 3
Stacks Labs said on November 5 that Bond 3 sold out with Bullish and 21shares among its participants. The first bond opened on September 10 and sold out at 230 BTC with four institutions. Weekly BTC rewards on that first bond began on September 17. Bond 2 followed in October, and Bond 3 sold out in November.
Bullish staked from its corporate treasury. Stacks cites CoinMarketCap for the claim that Bullish holds 22,000 BTC. It calls Bullish the first company among the ten largest public holders to earn BTC with Stacks. The exchange staked through BitGo's qualified custody.
The asset manager 21shares returned for a third time. Stacks says the firm oversees more than $6.5 billion across over 60 crypto ETPs. Individual holders also joined through pooled staking, including a pool run by Xverse.
Earning BTC without lending, step by step
BitGo announced its side of Stacks Bitcoin staking on November 3. Eligible institutional clients of BitGo Bank & Trust can stake from their existing accounts, and the BTC stays in qualified custody. The coins are timelocked on the Bitcoin network with standard script for the whole term. BitGo first integrated Stacks in 2021, according to the post, and in August 2026 it added institutional custody and minting for sBTC. Bitcoin staking is the next step in that relationship, since it puts the BTC itself to work.
Each position pairs the BTC with STX equal to 5 percent of the staked BTC's value. Positions run about six months and pay rewards in BTC. The protocol has no slashing, and principal returns at maturity.
The yield itself comes from Stacks miners. They spend BTC on the Bitcoin network to mine Stacks blocks, and that BTC flows to bond participants. Stacks stresses that nothing is lent out, bridged or wrapped.
One caveat sits in the same post. Each bonding period has a target rate set before it opens, and the contract is built to deliver it. The realized rate, however, can vary with the timing of miner reward distributions.

Before Bond 4: what to check
Stacks says both institutions and individuals can join the next bond, with institutions registering on its institutional page and individuals joining a pool. Dates differ slightly. The blog says roughly December 3 and the reports page says about December 4, so neither is firm until the bond opens.
Another point matters for reading these figures. Every figure on Stacks Bitcoin staking here comes from Stacks itself, participant claims and the CoinMarketCap-based holdings included. Stacks states that the data is verifiable onchain, which means a reader can look at the timelocks directly.
STX demand is a side effect worth tracking. Because each position needs STX worth 5 percent of the BTC, a bigger bond means more STX committed alongside it.
