Stacks says the second bonding period of its Bitcoin Staking product has sold out. A Stacks blog post dated October 16 puts the amount at around 500 BTC. The Q3 ecosystem report from Stacks Labs gives the exact figure as 505 BTC. Stacks Bitcoin Staking has now drawn about 735 BTC across two periods, according to the project's own numbers.

What Stacks Bitcoin Staking has drawn so far
The product went live after the PoX-5 hard fork on July 30. The Genesis Bond opened on September 10 and filled all of its capacity with 230 BTC. Bonding Period 2 opened on October 8 and brought in 505 BTC, which is double the first bond.
Most of it came through liquid staking. Stacking DAO took its full 483 BTC allocation in the second period. Stacking DAO launched its liquid token, stBTC, on September 3, and the report says the first 150 BTC of capacity filled in under 24 hours.
The report says new bonding periods open monthly through 2026, with capacity growing each time. The Genesis Bond was kept small on purpose, the report adds, so institutions could run the product live before capacity grew.
STX staked in Stacks Bitcoin Staking after the unlock
PoX-5 unlocked all staked STX, which meant every staker had to restake under the new contract. The report says 392M STX were restaked shortly after the fork. By the end of the quarter that figure was 448M, up 14.3%.
With Bonding Period 2, which added 6.7M STX alongside its BTC, STX staked stands at 493M. That is more than 25% above the post-fork baseline. These are figures from Stacks Labs and TOCE has not matched them against a separate data source.

Who bonded, and what else the report counts
Four institutions are named as the first to bond BTC on Stacks. They are 21shares, HashKey Cloud, UTXO Management and Sypher Capital. The report describes UTXO Management as a subsidiary of Nakamoto Inc., which trades on Nasdaq as NAKA.
Custody support is listed for Fireblocks, Fordefi and Anchorage Digital. Elsewhere in the report, Zest Protocol is said to have passed $80M in value locked, with $122M in deposits and $42M in borrows. It also says 800 BTC are deployed as collateral there.
Weekly DEX volume on Stacks reached a 12-month high of $16.7M in the week of September 28, according to the report. The report also lists sBTC supply at 2,487 BTC.
What the numbers do not show
The report gives no yield figure for the bonded BTC. Nor does it give the lock length for the 505 BTC. A split between new BTC and coins moved over from elsewhere is missing too. Those details would change how large the Stacks Bitcoin Staking number really is.
This article reports Stacks Labs' own statements and does not say what the staking numbers mean for the STX price.
