Strive Bitcoin Purchase Adds 2,000 BTC, Narrowing Gap To MARA
Strive's 8-K shows 2,000 BTC bought for roughly $168.8 million, lifting holdings to 29,462 BTC. Here is the cost, the funding and the distance to MARA.

Strive bought 2,000 bitcoin between September 28 and October 2, according to an 8-K filed on October 5. The Strive bitcoin purchase averaged about $84,422 per coin, fees included, so the bill comes to roughly $168.8 million. Holdings stand at 29,462 BTC as of October 2, up from 27,462 a week earlier.

Strive's October 5 8-K lists holdings for September 25 and October 2.
What The Strive Bitcoin Purchase Cost
Those 2,000 coins are the largest weekly buy in Strive's filings since June 2, when it reported 2,500 for May 23 to June 1. In between, weekly purchases ran from fewer than 20 coins to 1,800 in the week ending August 28. Strive's average price has climbed too. It was $79,475 in the week to September 18, then $85,396 in the week to September 25.
Strive's tally for the three months to September 30 is 8,137 bitcoin at an average of $78,885. This week's Strive bitcoin purchase cost more than that. Its whole stack, 28,000 BTC on September 30, carries an average cost of $90,170 per coin. The filing values it at $2.34 billion on a market price of $83,577, below the roughly $2.52 billion it took to assemble.
CoinGecko's live quote showed bitcoin at $85,944 at 08:49 UTC on October 6, about 1.8% above the weekly average Strive paid.
Strive Bitcoin Holdings Versus MARA
MARA Holdings is the comparison traders reach for. Its 10-Q, filed August 6, puts the June 30 count at 35,577 BTC. That followed sales of about 23,093 coins in the first half of 2026. Set against Strive's October 2 count, the gap is 6,115 BTC, though the two dates sit three months apart. CoinGecko's treasury tracker lists MARA at 35,303 BTC, which would make the gap 5,841.

MARA's 10-Q states the June 30 holding.
MARA's second-quarter shareholder letter says it mined 2,422 BTC and bought none. Its total includes 9,270 BTC loaned or pledged as collateral at June 30. On August 4 it signed two bitcoin-backed term loan facilities worth $600 million of incremental borrowings.
Strive's stack now equals about 83% of MARA's June 30 figure, and its climb is faster. Its holdings were 19,900 BTC in the July 13 filing, so the stack has grown by about 48% in under three months. Metaplanet filed its own treasury update on October 5, reporting 44,000 BTC at quarter end.
Trackers lag the filings. CoinGecko's table still showed Strive near 27,460 BTC, the September 25 count.
How Strive Is Funding The Buying
The 8-K does not itemize funding for the Strive bitcoin purchase, but its share table shows where new capital arrived. SATA, Strive's variable-rate preferred stock, grew by 1,304,902 shares to 13,498,082. At the $100 stated amount implied by the filing's balance sheet, that is roughly $130 million. Class A common stock outstanding rose by 3,255,119 shares, and cash climbed by $35.9 million to $284.7 million.
Preferred stock comes with a bill. The balance sheet's debt and preferred section lists an annualized interest obligation of $168.2 million as of September 30. Strive says it intends to remain debt-free and has a repurchase facility of up to $500 million for SATA. Management wants its amplification ratio, 55.3% on September 30, above 60% while bitcoin stays under $100,000. Strive also states that it believes bitcoin is attractively priced at current levels.
Strive's weekly updates have landed on Mondays since June 8, apart from one Tuesday after Labor Day. Next up would be October 12, if the pattern holds.
Nothing here is investment advice, and bitcoin can move sharply in either direction.
