Binance ETH reserves fell from 3.57 million to 3.47 million ETH over three days, the lowest reading in six months. That is the finding in a CryptoQuant Quicktake by analyst Darkfost. It also counts more than 320,000 withdrawal transactions on October 6, a single-day record for the exchange. In August the balance stood at 3.92 million ETH.

CryptoQuant chart by Darkfost of Ethereum exchange reserve on Binance falling to 3.46 million ETH, a six-month low

Darkfost's chart of ETH held on Binance, from the CryptoQuant Quicktake published October 9.

Binance ETH reserves since August

The line touched 3.92 million ETH in August and has slid since. Against that level the balance is down about 11.5%, or roughly 450,000 ETH. At $2,495 per ETH on Binance, that is a bit over $1.1 billion that left the exchange's tracked wallets.

The latest leg is smaller. Three days took about 100,000 ETH off the line, which is 2.8% of the balance and around $250 million at current prices. Darkfost's chart labels the full slide from the August top as a 9% decline.

Record withdrawals behind the Binance ETH reserves drop

A second chart in the Quicktake plots withdrawal transactions per day, and October 6 towers over the rest of it. The tallest older bars date to 2021 and 2022 and stop near 200,000. October 6 sails past 300,000.

A count is not a size. Many small withdrawals can set a record without moving much ETH. The transaction chart and the balance chart therefore tell different parts of the story. Darkfost reads the pattern as holders moving coins into self-custody and possibly putting them to work elsewhere.

ETF funds sold while the exchange balance fell

ETH changed hands near $2,710 on Binance at the October 5 close and at $2,475 on October 8, a drop of 8.7%. October 7 alone cost 4.6%. Darkfost's post cites an 11% fall in Ethereum over three days. From the October 5 high of $2,738 to the October 8 low of $2,406, Binance data gives 12.1%, so his figure is in the right range.

Spot Ether ETFs were sellers too. Farside Investors shows $201.9 million leaving them on October 6, then $160.9 million and $72.5 million over the next two sessions. Put together, $435.3 million went out, roughly 175,000 ETH at today's price.

Two reads are possible. Funds may have sold ETH while individual holders pulled theirs off the exchange, which would point to different crowds behind each move. Or some of the same holders may have moved coins to custody before selling through other channels. Neither dataset can separate the two. Both did land on the same days as a 12% slide.

What exchange reserve data can and cannot show

Reserve lines depend on how CryptoQuant labels Binance addresses, so a wallet reshuffle can bend the curve without a single customer withdrawing. Treat Binance ETH reserves as a signal to watch and not as proof of accumulation. A bounce back above 3.6 million ETH would show this round of withdrawals reversing. Another leg lower would confirm that it has not. CryptoQuant refreshes the line daily, and Farside posts each new ETF row after the US close. This report covers on-chain and fund data and gives no advice to buy or sell ETH.
